BIOGRAPHY

Ahmed Harfoush is an Egyptian jazz vocalist based in London. With a long career which started in Cairo, he became the premier jazz vocalist and entertainer in Egypt and has been performing around the world for over a decade.

Harfoush received voice training privately in Cairo and at London’s Mountview Academy for Theatre Arts. Harfoush’s passion for music and the stage began with spending most of his childhood in the United States, where he was exposed to the American music legacy. Later in his teens in Cairo, he joined numerous choirs performing classical music and excerpts from classic Broadway and West End musicals.

His first international jazz performance was at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, performing ‘The Cole Porter Song Book’ with accomplished local Scottish musicians in 2011.

HarfousH performed in Paris, London, Berlin, Milano, Larnaca, Athens, Vienna, Slovenia, Budapest, Rome, Hamburg, Dubai, Prague, Skopje with the Macedonia Philharmonic, Damascus with New York City’s Chris Byars Jazz Quartet and in Cambridge with the Cambridgeshire Youth Orchestra led by conductor Timothy Redmond.

He founded the HarfousH Jazz Band in London in 2015, and established his music venture the Egyptian Jazz Projekt (EJP) featuring jazz arrangements of classic iconic 1950s and 60s Egyptian pop songs mixed with the Great American Songbook. He performed the EJP at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, the London Jazz Festival, Dubai Opera, The Egyptian Art Academy in Rome, the Art Brighouse Art Festival, The Egyptian Culture Centre in London, The Gomhoureyya Theatre in Cairo, Jazz Café Osmoz in Paris and the Egyptian Embassies in Berlin, Vienna and Melbourne.
